Pamela Moore of McCarter & English Announces New Book on Connecticut Employment Law

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Labor and employment issues affect most Americans. Many of those legal battles are fought on the state level and involve issues that are state specific. Connecticut may be one of our country’s smallest states, but it is one of the most active in terms of enacting and enforcing state labor and employment laws—rivaling much larger states like California. McCarter & English, LLP Labor & Employment Practice Group Leader, Pamela J. Moore, recently teamed up with American Law Media to author a new, long overdue treatise entitled Connecticut Employment Law. The book is a comprehensive handbook and a practical survey of the law that governs employer-employee relations in Connecticut. Moore draws on her 26 years of experience as a labor and employment attorney to explain the often complex and nuanced employment law landscape.

“Labor and employment litigation has been on the rise for the past several years and shows no signs of slowing down”

“Labor and employment litigation has been on the rise for the past several years and shows no signs of slowing down,” said Ms. Moore, who leads McCarter’s Labor and Employment practice group and has been representing employers throughout her career. “Failing to understand the complex legal landscape affecting the workplace can result in costly administrative and judicial proceedings, penalties, and painful punitive damages against employers. Most cases arise simply because an employer (or its legal counsel) was unaware of legal landmines affecting employment decisions.”

She continued: “Connecticut Employment Law provides comprehensive resource materials all practitioners need to handle the daily workplace issues that impact both employers and employees, including timely information on the developments in the areas of social media, drug testing, leave laws and medical marijuana. For the new and seasoned attorney alike, the volume provides information on all Connecticut laws impacting the workplace and will prove to be an invaluable tool for counseling clients on workplace rights and preventive employment practices as well as pursuing and defending labor and employment claims.”

Ms. Moore concentrates her practice in preventive employment relations, EEO agency proceedings and employment litigation. She has significant experience in the full range of employment law issues, including employment discrimination, sexual harassment, affirmative action, employment at will, wage and hour, family and medical leave, workplace as well as social media/website matters.

Admitted to the Connecticut and New Jersey bars, Ms. Moore has handled numerous cases before federal and state administrative agencies and courts on a wide variety of issues, and has tried cases to a jury on such issues as age discrimination, employment contract/handbook claims, defamation and whistle-blowing. She also has handled arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings and has successfully argued appeals to both federal and state appellate courts. Her clients range from small to large companies in fields such as banking, retail, medical, manufacturing, and shipping and transportation.

Ms. Moore has been recognized as a Chambers USA "Leaders in their Field" lawyer for 2009-2012. In 2010, she was selected as one of Connecticut Law Tribune's 2010 Women in the Law: High Achiever's Yearbook and was designated as a Connecticut Super Lawyer for 2011 and 2012. In 2012, Ms. Moore was selected as one of the Top Attorneys in New England by Peer Recognition by Super Lawyers.

She earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School and her A.B. from Cornell University.
