WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) has received an Emergency Assistance Award from Edison Electric Institute for outstanding service in 2012 for its assistance to other utilities and for its restoration after Hurricane Sandy on Oct. 29.

The electric power industry’s Emergency Assistance Awards are presented each year to recognize extraordinary efforts undertaken in restoring electric service to customers and to other utility companies whose service has been disrupted by severe weather conditions or other natural events.

PHI was chosen to receive the award by following an international nomination process.

Working through the industry’s mutual assistance program, PHI crews were essential in helping their fellow utility companies restore service in affected neighborhoods.
