CAGW Welcomes New Board Member

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) is pleased to announce the addition of communications and management strategist Steve Hofman to its board of directors. Mr. Hofman’s major projects have included advising Deloitte & Touche, LLP on its Initiative on the Retention and Promotion of Women; Barclays Global Investors on U.S. Pension Policy; and The Washington Post on business issues, among many others. Mr. Hofman will also be joining the board of CAGW’s lobbying arm, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste.

“I'm very pleased to be joining CAGW’s board”

“Steve’s impressive strategic and consulting experience will be an enormous boon to our board,” said CAGW President Tom Schatz. “He has worked for clients across a wide range of economic sectors in both the public and private sector, including Barclays Global Investors, Instinet Corporation, The National Alliance of Business, Maryland Public Television, and the International Swaps and Derivatives Association. He served as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Public Affairs under then-Secretary Lynn Martin in the George H.W. Bush administration. The breadth of his career as a strategist and advisor will be invaluable to our cause.”

“I'm very pleased to be joining CAGW’s board,” said Mr. Hofman. “Few national organizations over the past 30 years have done as much as CAGW to partner with the United States taxpayer in identifying wasteful and ineffective federal spending. Its mission today, with a government larger than ever, with more programs being paid for with borrowed dollars, and with less oversight, accountability and transparency, is more vital than ever. I hope to use my experiences, having worked with the leadership in Congress, having helped run a federal department, and now working over the past 20 years with leaders in the private sector, to help CAGW grow as an organization and to even better serve its essential purpose.”

Schatz added, “Steve has had the chance to evaluate government spending both from within and outside, which will be essential to CAGW’s mission. It is an honor to welcome him to our board of directors.”

Citizens Against Government Waste is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, mismanagement and abuse in government.
